Poverty and place part 1 (E1)

In this episode, ‘Poverty and Place’ (part 1), we are joined by Dr Carl Emery and Louisa Dawes, lecturers and researchers in education, social justice, poverty and disadvantage at the Manchester Institute of Education at the University of Manchester. Together they run the 'Local Matters' programme which advocates for a different response from schools and community organisations to address the needs of children and families living in poverty. In Part One we find out how poverty shapes educational outcomes.
